My first story

 

This is my first story--a little rough but we did our best! Now I hope they will just put it on the air.  Enjoy! The quotes will be translated to Spanish once it makes it to S. America.

Prevención de la Obesidad (Obesity Prevention)

This was created as part of the Promotores de Salud Program at Centro Latino in order to educate Latino families about Obesity Prevention.

Centro Latino Community Gardens

This Centro Latino Community Gardens video was made for presentation at the Unite 4 Healthy Neighborhoods conference Friday, April 9, 2010, in Columbia, MO. It shows Centro Latino's work at the community gardens that they have built from the ground up.

Diabetes Video-Promotores de Salud

This video was created as part of the Promotores de Salud program (Health Promoters) at Centro Latino in order to educate the Latino population they serve about the dangers and risk factors of Diabetes and what can be done to prevent the disease. This sample is a compressed version, created in order to fit on the blog page, so the quality is not as high as the original.

Family Planning-Promotores de Salud

This video was created to educate Latino families about Family Planning through the Promotores de Salud program at Centro Latino. The footage for all of the Promotores videos had already been filmed a few months before I began working at the Centro. The video below is a clip of the entire video; at just over 16 minutes, is too long to upload.

Media Literacy Facebook Video

This video was created for a presentation about the effects of Facebook on the way we handle relationships, both with romantic partners and friends. The project also highlighted the changing way we communicate with those closest to us through the use of online mediated communication. The project's objectives were introduced in an interactive presentation with college students, of which the majority were freshmen.

Media Literacy

This video was created as part of a Media Literacy project highlighting the media's portrayal of masculinity and how the overwhelming media presentation of men as violent and sexual beings has created a tarnished view of reality for young boys.
